[Resume] This research revolves around the upgrading of functional, behavioural and environmental post-occupancy evaluation of apartments methods through design and use of digital interfaces specifically developed. It also intends to make the housing post-occupancy evaluation process more efficient, through the use of electronic equipment (laptop, tablet, personal digital assistants), showing reflections about this kind of use and discussing the possible interfaces between men and the digital mean at the scope of POE’s research.
The research has a partnership between the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and Design (FAUeD) and the Faculty of Computer Science (FACOM). With the intuit of reaching the proposed objectives, the research will structure itself in two main lines: LINE 1 – Concept, form and content of POE – improvement of evaluative method and design of the programs (FAUeD); LINE 2 – Equipment and execution of proposal – development of program – software, platform, library, database (FACOM). The two research lines will develop parallelly, in which the dialogue has to be constant through the continuous retro-feeding between the parts, increasing the common repertory of the research involved, seeking interferences and mutual contaminations during the whole process.
The work methodology was based on the followings approaches: (i) bibliographic research about POE with an environmental approach and digital interfaces possibilities; (ii) definition of POE in apartment buildings with functional, behavioural and environmental focus; (iii) upgrading of the platform (composed by diverse integrated and complementary software) compatible with the new objectives of the proposed post-occupancy evaluation (environmental); (iv) proposal of functional prototypes in portable means (tablet) that contemplate and increase the demands presented until then through the POE questions and objectives; (v) prototype choice, application and reading of the results of an apartment building in the city of Uberlândia, MG; (vii) development of definitive POE method starting from the results; (viii) application and reading of the results of study cases (three) in apartment buildings in the city of Uberlândia, MG; (ix) research conclusion.
The objective is a prediction of an efficient post-occupancy evaluation putting in focus the functionality of the spaces, the user’s behaviour and its environmental impact, making the results accessible to society, through the disclosure of the proposed solution, and real estate agents. From the didactic point of view the research aims to bring contributions both in the staff didactic experiences, and in the knowledge acquisition from the students involved, as the discussion about the design process and its components is inserted in the academic environment, as well as the relevance of post-occupancy evaluation as a refeeding tool of projects in the search for spaces of quality.
In relation to the use of digital means, beyond the optimization of processes of collection and management of information about post-occupancy in the cases predicted in this project, there are hopes of a contribution for a revision of how users participate in the confection of interfaces that attend their specific demands.
